From 22 to 24 May, Valencia will host the “Golden Jubilee” of the National Lighting Symposium, organised by the Spanish Lighting Committee, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024.

The event, which will host presentations on various topics such as smart cities, energy efficiency and light pollution, among others, will be attended by Asselum.

Asselum participates with two presentations

Our team will be present at the event with two presentations on two crucial current topics: LED vacuum soldering for demanding environments, and the automation and simplification of ENAC-accredited photometric testing, with Oxytech.

LED vacuum brazing for the most demanding environments. A must for tunnel luminaires. Research, testing and possible conclusions

By Jordi Verdaguer and Marc Ballbè (Asselum)                                                                                                                                         22nd May at 18:15 h – Arquerías Hall

With the significant growth of LED lighting for roads and tunnels due to its advantages over traditional technologies, such as greater durability with lower energy consumption, the design of printed circuit boards (PCBs) is crucial to respond to possible problems such as solder voids, which affect the efficiency and useful life of the luminaire.

Voids, gas bubbles or cavities in components – such as LEDs and PCBs – can have consequences on the mechanical and thermal integrity of the connection, so minimising them is key to ensure the quality and reliability of the final product.

In this talk, we will focus on the unique and mechanical performance of different PCBs with LEDs for tunnel luminaires and how voids management affects performance, always according to tests in an ENAC accredited laboratory according to ISO 17025 to guarantee the accuracy and neutrality of the conclusions.

Automation and simplification of ENAC-accredited photometric certificates and application for manufacturers and municipal technicians. Innovation?

In the past, photometry tests were costly and time-consuming because each luminaire configuration was tested once.

In this talk, however, we will discuss the significant advances in photometric files in XML format and automatic calculation software, which allow us to include all the driver’s dimming variations in a single file to facilitate the automation of the calculation and optimise lighting projects in minutes, quantifying their quality efficiently and accurately.

Using a system accredited by ENAC, we are able to validate all the photometric performance of the luminaire and accredit all the variations in luminous flux, power, CCT and Ra without requiring multiple single tests.
