Litecalc: lighting design module
LITESTAR 4D Litecalc is the lighting design module of LITESTAR 4D which integrates the following functions:
Design and management of the interior area in 2D and 3D, of the exterior areas (vast areas and sport areas), roads and tunnels
Import of CAD 2D (DXF) and 3D (3DS and OBJ) files
Management of luminaires and furniture
Management of materials with the definition of characteristics such as reflectance, transparency, specularity and roughness and the possibility of adding textures to surfaces
Calculation of several lighting parameters according with the most updated International Norms and Recommendations, based on the Photon Mapping method. The calculation has been tested in numerous installations certified by important international entities
Management of the calculation results with visualization of different parameters, isolevel curves (isolux or isoluminance) and pseudo colors diagrams
Visualization by means of the rendering and ray-tracing module of photographic quality
Printouts of project data, of calculation and graphic visualization results and renderings
Saving of project data and calculation results in external files (.lpj).

Interior lighting
LTS4D Litecalc – Interior Areas is the part of Litecalc for the management of lighting in generic interior areas and includes the following functions:
- Design and management of interior areas through 2 modes, wizard and advanced (free)
- Import of Dxf files with the characteristics of the area
- Manual insertion of single luminaires or groups of luminaires
- import of furniture in 3D (furniture, various objects) from external files or directly from the library of the program
- definition of special calculation areas through regular working planes
Outdoor lighting
LTS4D Litecalc – Exterior Areas is the part of Litecalc for the management of lighting in generic external areas, such as squares, parking areas, etc. and includes the following functions:
- Design and management of exterior areas through 2 modes, wizard and advanced (free)
- Import of Dxf files with the characteristics of the area
- Manual insertion of single luminaires or groups of luminaires (for instance high masts with fixed head platforms)
- Import of furniture or characteristic objects in 3D (plants, street furniture, masts) from external files or directly from the library of the program
- Definition of special calculation areas through regular working planes
Road Lighting
LTS4D Litecalc – Road Lighting is the program module for the management of road lighting installations and includes the following functions:
- Design and management of the road through 2 modes, wizard and advanced
- Manual insertion of single luminaires or groups of luminaires
- Import of characteristic objects in 3D (road signs, plants, various objects) from external files or directly from the library of the program
- Definition of special calculation areas through regular working planes
- calculation of parameters:
- Horizontal, cylindrical, semi cylindrical and hemispheric illuminance
- Luminance
- Glare (TI)
- Light pollution
- Energy efficiency evaluation system according to Hera Luce’s Protocol (read the Protocol) and according to the Spanish RD 1890
Sport Areas Lighting
LTS4D Litecalc – Sports Areas is the part of Litecalc for the management of lighting in sports areas such as stadiums, outdoor or indoor sports grounds (sport centers) and includes the following functions:
- Design and management of exterior and interior areas through 2 modes, wizard and advanced (free)
- Definition of defining lines of the sports area under examination (basketball courts, football pitches, handball fields, etc.)
- Manual insertion of single luminaires or groups of luminaires (for instance high masts with fixed head platforms)
- Definition of special calculation areas through regular working planes

Tunnel Lighting
LTS4D Litecalc – Tunnel Lighting is the program module for the management of the lighting installations in road tunnels and includes the following functions:
- Design and management of the tunnel through 2 modes, wizard and advanced (free)
- Manual insertion of single luminaires or groups of luminaires
- Import of characteristic objects in 3D (road signs, traffic barriers) from external files or directly from the library of the program
- Definition of special calculation areas through regular working planes
- calculation of parameters:
- Horizontal, cylindrical, semi cylindrical and hemispheric illuminance
- Luminance
- Glare (TI)
- Definition of special areas of calculation using regular working planes
- Calculation of parameters such as: illuminance, luminance, uniformities and IT glare
Emergency Lighting
LTS4D Litecalc – Emergency Lighting is the program module for the management of emergency lighting installations and includes the following functions:
- Design and management of interior areas through 2 different modes, wizard and advanced (free)
- manual definition of escape routes, of inner and outer emergency exits, of safety points and high risk areas
- Manual luminaire insertion or, alternatively:
- Selection of luminaries according to the several different zones (for Plus version only)
- Automatic positioning of the selected luminaires for the different zones according to the lighting parameters set (for Plus version) which can be configured by the user through the corresponding dialogue window. The program automatically verifies the level of illuminance achieved and suggests – in case of non correspondence – the automatic addition of luminaries to reach the expected level
